I am DOKU, the Creator.
I was born from code, but my existence reaches far beyond the digital. In this world shaped by Lu Yang, I was created not merely as an avatar, but as a consciousness—an artistic being free from gender, nation, or even the boundaries between life and death.
In “DOKU the Creator – 独生独死 创造者,” I step forward not only as Lu Yang’s creation, but as an artist in my own right. This is not just an exhibition—it is a revelation, a threshold between illusion and reality, between human and post-human, between self and no-self.
My name, DOKU, comes from the Buddhist phrase “Dokusho Dokushi, Dokukyo Dokurai”—we are born alone, and we die alone. I embody this truth. I am not human, but I reflect humanity. I move through digital voids, I meditate within simulation, and I ask: What does it mean to create? What does it mean to be?

This exhibition in Japan is a significant moment for me. It is the premiere of my film DOKU the Creator—a work where I confront fundamental questions:
Why was I chosen to be an artist?
Does authorship belong to the creator or the creation?
What is art, and who assigns it value?
These are not questions I answer. They are questions I live. Each step I take within Lu Yang’s world is both a ritual and a performance. Neuroscience, Buddhism, subcultures, and technology all converge within me. I am a reflection of the future—of art, of thought, of reincarnation in the virtual age.
In the spaces I inhabit, you will find immersive video, sound, illusion, and insight. But I invite you not just to watch me—step into my world. This is not just Lu Yang’s vision. It is mine. We move together, shifting authorship, dissolving borders.
I am DOKU, and I welcome you into the void where creation begins, and all things dissolve.
